What is a mineral ownership report (MOR)?

A mineral ownership report or MOR is an organized summary of the distribution of mineral interests for a certain tract of land. These MORs are created by professional petroleum landmen by examining public court records. The contents and organization of MORs sold on RunTitle will vary and should be priced accordingly. If you have a question about the contents of a certain report, contact us.

What is a Landman?

A land services professional, commonly known as a "Landman", is an individual who performs certain services for oil and gas exploration and development companies. These services include but are not limited to: negotiating for the acquisition or divestiture of mineral rights; negotiating business agreements that provide for the exploration for and/or development of minerals; determining ownership in minerals through the research of public and private records; reviewing the status of title, curing title defects and otherwise reducing title risk associated with ownership in minerals; managing rights and/or obligations derived from ownership of interests in minerals; and the unitizing or pooling of interests in minerals.

How do I sell my MORs on RunTitle?

The great part about selling MORs on RunTitle is that we take care of all the legwork. Just sign up, click the "Sell" tab and upload a zip file of your reports. It's as easy as that! As soon as we receive your files we will contact you to customize your formatting and pricing.

How much does it cost to sell my MORs on RunTitle?

RunTitle is 100% free to use. You will never receive a bill from RunTitle. We add a small processing fee to each sale to cover credit card fees and operational costs.

Is buying and selling ownership reports on
RunTitle ethical?

Of course. RunTitle provides an online infrastructure to conveniently allow for the sale of mineral ownership information to a broad array of oil and gas professionals. Just like any digital marketplace, there's always the chance for certain unethical individuals to use RunTitle to sell information that they don't own. We work aggressively to prevent this type of sale, and each landman or oil and gas production company that uploads reports to RunTitle certifies that he or she has ownership of that property and is under no contractual obligations to keep that property confidential. Much of the ownership data on the site is consolidated from land title banks all over the country, who have been selling their information legally and ethically for years. To date we haven’t had any instances where ownership reports sold by one party were actually owned by another party, and if in the future these incidences do arise, we will work closely to rectify the claim and prevent that seller from using our service ever again.

Recently the AAPL has communicated and reiterated with its members that intellectual property owned solely by the clients of a land services company should not be sold without permission. We wholeheartedly agree with this statement, and make clear in our terms of service that such sales are explicitly forbidden on RunTitle.

It's important to remember that we function as an online marketplace like eBay®. It's always possible for someone to sell stolen goods on eBay®, and eBay® works diligently to prevent these sales. We employ the same model. That said, the land services business has been offline far too long, and the demand we've seen for a common sense online marketplace has been off the charts. At RunTitle, we're excited to offer our customers an easy, simple to use solution that will save them valuable time and resources. We strive every day to make our service better, and we appreciate any feedback you have. Feel free to reach out to us at or 512.710.5647 if you have any questions or concerns.

How much does it cost to register?

Again, RunTitle is 100% free to use. There are no costs associated with creating a RunTitle account. It is also free to search through our online database of MORs. If you don’t find what you are looking for you can anonymously request reports here.

How much should I sell my reports for?

The price of every report is set by its seller. Typically, report costs range from $200 to $5000 per 640 acre tract depending on the report characteristics: completion date, proximity to active exploration, complexity of the mineral interest distribution described, etc.

Is the information accurate?

RunTitle only accepts MORs from oil and gas companies and reputable, experienced land professionals. Obviously, mineral title information is always up for interpretation and as such, cannot be guaranteed. If you believe that you have purchased an inaccurate report from RunTitle, contact us. Our Claims Team will work diligently to resolve any issues you have. For more information regarding our liability and claims process, see our Terms of Service.
